Infosys  has annoucesed that it would be hiring 20,000 employees this fiscal, an increase of 2000 from the earlier announcement. S D Shibulal, Chief operating officer and co-founder of Infosys, said there would be more lateral hiring this time, during announcement of the quarterly financial results.

“We had a gross addition of 6,069 employees for the quarter, a net addition of 1,548 employees. We would hire more people for this fiscal, as against our announcement of 18,000 people last quarter. The number would be around 20,000, because we are going to hire more lateral and experienced people.”

Shibulal hinted that the company would involve in more hiring, and also wage hike. This would also include increase of sales force, onsite force etc.”We are keeping the model ready for the growth that would come as the environment eases,” he said.

The company is eagerly looking at hiring people at various levels. It would be a blend of fresh trainees and lateral group. He said that the employee utilization had come across 73 per cent and this is expected to remain the same as the company is looking at a mix of skill-set, from trainee level to more experienced ‘middle layer’.
